Overview

 

Discovery Education Streaming Plus is the largest digital content resource library in education. It contains over 40,000 video clips, 4,000 full videos, and images as well as interactive learning resources.

Content Connections:   Discovery Education Streaming Plus supports learning in ALL content areas. 

 

Standards Alignment

 

  • Users can search by Common Core State Standards by using the Curriculum Standards Search link under the main search box. Use the drop down menus to select the Common Core State Standard content area and grade level. 
  • After finding a video using the search bar, you can find the correlated CCSS standards for the video using the "Standards" button under the video window and video summary, or by selecting "Details" on the horizontal menu bar, and then Selecting "Standards".

    • Advanced Search:  Allows users to narrow down their search and find content using various filters.

  • On a video window:
    • Details provides a description of the video, information about the correlated Common Core State Standards, closed captioning options, editing options, audience, grade level, copyright information, publisher, citations and video statistics. 
    • Download allows you to download the video content for offline viewing. Closed caption files can be downloaded as well.

    • Materials shows any related materials that relate to the video such as Teacher's Guides.
    • Transcript gives a breakdown of the content by time segment within the video.
    • More to Explore provides links to related video content. 
    • Print provides a printer friendly version of the information about the video.
    • Pop-out Video will allow you to view the video in a separate pop out window.
    • Full Screen maximizes the video window to full screen instead of a separate pop up window.
    • Standards provides information about Common Core State Standards.
    • Add to QuickList (Plus sign) adds the content you choose to a quick list of content.
    • Options (Down arrow) provides options for what you would like to do with the content as well as a sharing link (for direct linking to specific content)

  • When logged into Discovery Ed , pull down the Professional Development menu to access support resources for educators. 
  • Direct Linking: Directions for creating a direct link to a specific article or resource for curriculum materials or digital learning environments. 
    • To create direct links to Discovery Education Content, use the drop-down arrow next to the video title or chapter title and click on the  "Share" feature to copy the direct URL. 
    • IMPORTANT!  Be careful when creating links from keyword search results. DO NOT copy the Share URL from the Search Results page which begins with http://app.discoveryeducation.com. Click on the asset first, and then copy the URL beginning with http://bcps.discoveryeducation.com
