Direct Linking Guidelines for Curriculum Writers and Teachers using BCPS One

1. These instructions are intended for:
  • BCPS curriculum writers providing direct links to specific assets from our BCPS-licensed media repositories and databases in BCPS One curriculum materials.

  • BCPS teachers providing direct links to specific BCPS digital content assets on BCPSOne Lesson Tiles, class websites, school library wikis, or in other digital learning environments.

These instructions are strictly for the use of BCPS employees for direct linking to digital content purchased and licensed only for BCPS users.

These instructions do not apply to links from the BCPS One Repository. See the BCPSOne Manual > Repository section for instructions on using those assets in Assignments/ on Lesson Tiles.

2. Special protocols are required for obtaining or creating direct links to specific digital content from some of our media collections and databases.

  • In some cases, you cannot just copy the URL (Internet address) which appears in the browser address field. These URLs may not provide direct access to the specific content.

3. Use the Direct Linking instructions linked below to obtain or create a direct link to a specific Digital Content asset (article, video, eBook, etc.).

  • Copy the direct link URL, and then proceed to #4 below to add the direct link to BCPSOne.
  • If you are posting the direct link on a digital document or another digital learning environment (like a wiki), be sure to hyperlink the URL to the Title of Asset - Name of Database.
For example:  Book Reports - BrainPop Jr . Do not display URLs in digital learning environments.
