With My Maps, teachers can create a map; draw lines, shapes, or placemarks on the map; import geographically-specific data including addresses, place names, or latitude and longitude coordinates; organize a map with layers to hide or show different kinds of content; style the content with different colors, placemark icons, and line widths.  Teachers can share completed maps with students through a simple hyperlink.

• Want to show Marco Polo’s route and the Silk Road? Well you can make it an interactive experience, add a route, point markers with info, images, and a YouTube video.
• Studying World War II? Why not mark areas of occupation using the shapes tool, add points of info, etc.
• Take a story that you are reading with your class and plot the important places on the map. You can follow the paths traveled by characters, see places where particular events took place in the story, and more.
• Create a class map and add to it every time something relevant in a foreign language class comes up. Each time something new is done in class, pin or plot it on the map. By the end of the semester, you will have created a living/ evolving document that contains information about literature, pop culture, art, historical figures, and more… All in the language that students are learning.
